Obituary of P. Morgan Ferris
The death of P. Morgan Ferris occurred November 29, 2002 at Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Saint John, NB. Morgan is the husband of Audrey (Keith) Ferris. He was born in Saint John and was the son of the late Guy and Ellen (Osburn) Ferris. Morgan was a veteran of WW II having served overseas as an underage volunteer on the HMCS Haida. The HMCS Haida patrolled the English Channel with convoys to Murmansk Russia, for which he received a medal of Honour from the Russian Ambassador in 1993. Morgan was employed with the Saint John News Company for 50 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Men's Club of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Milford Merry Makers, Westfield Golf and Country Club, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69. Morgan was an avid walker, gardener, enjoyed attending auctions and spending time at his cottage on Kennebecassis Island. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters Heather (Tommy) Norman of Calgary, Janice (Murray) Sproul, Jennifer (Jeff) Bower, Andrea (Dale) Murphy all of Saint John, a brother Lorne (Mabel) Ferris of Fredericton, Sister-law Joy Keith and several nieces and nephews. Grampy will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Erin, T.J., Morgan, Keith, Lauren, William and Ella as well as his friends and caregivers Sharon and Thelma. Morgan was predeceased by his brothers Edward and Sydney, and sister Geraldine Day. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion Tribute to a Veteran Service to be held at the funeral home, on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be from the Church of the Good Shepherd, Manawagonish Rd., on Monday, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
