Obituary of Joan Marie Godwin

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joan Marie (Cave) Godwin of Saint John, wife of the late Harry D. Godwin, which occurred on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at her residence with her loving family at her side. Born in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Beers) Cave. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She loved to spend time with her family. Joan enjoyed a good game of cards whether it was crib or 45’s with family or friends. She enjoyed going to dances and loved to jive. Joan always had fond memories of the basket socials at Mispec Pavilion. She began her career working for NBTEL and then went on to work in a variety of credit departments for various organizations in Saint John. Joan is survived by her children, Debra Crowe of Baxter’s Corner; Sandra Wenner of Saint John and Fred (Joyce) Godwin of Saint John; six grandchildren, Shelly Crowe, Tom (Ashley) Crowe, Terri (Ben) Lawson, Julie (Mike) Kobrynovich, Shawn (Mary Lynn) Godwin; Amanda (Troy) Dion and grand puppy, Quincy; seven great-grandchildren, Devon and Daeton Crowe, Jayden and Kelsey Crowe, Kyleigh and Ava Dion-Wright and Hannah Lawson; one sister, Diane (Ronald) Harriott of Fredericton, NB; partner, Bernard Reid; son-in-law, Mario Dion; her very special friend, Bonnie (Frank) Kneeland; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan was predeceased by her parents, husband, daughter, Nancy Dion and son-in-law, Peter Crowe. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, July 16, 2012 from 7-9 pm and Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 12:00 noon from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances may be made to the All Saints Anglican Church East Saint John, Extra Mural Program, Saint John or the Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
