Obituary of J. David Moir

It is with loving sadness that the family of Dr. J. David Moir announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 24, 2012. Born June 27, 1930 in Newcastle, New Brunswick to Janet B (Stymiest) and Thomas A Moir, David moved to Saint John and graduated from Saint John High School in 1948. Dr. Moir attended UNB Fredericton, Kings College in Halifax and graduated from the Dalhousie University School of Medicine in 1957 with a BSc. and M.D.C.M. He then opened a family practice in Saint John until 1965 when he moved his family to Montreal and earned his Fellowship in Radiology at Montreal General. Dr. Moir returned to Saint John in 1969 and was on staff at the Saint John General Hospital, Saint John Regional Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital as a diagnostic radiologist until his retirement in 1996. He then worked various radiology locums in Australia and New Zealand post-retirement. David enjoyed golfing and fishing, especially at his winter homes in Florida and his camp up-country in Blackville, NB. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Claire (Chambers); sister, Margaret Grant; four children: John (Sue), Rob, Barb (Guy), Krista (Paul); seven grandchildren: Jessica, Cassandra, Megan, Erin, Elaine, Kate, L.J, and two great grandchildren: Zoe and Patrick. Visitation will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Wednesday, September 26 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. A celebration of David’s life will be held in Brenan’s Reception Centre on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 3pm-5pm. Donations may be made to the Saint John High School Alumni Association or the charity of your choice. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of 5CN and Palliative Care at the Saint John Regional Hospital for all of your care, kindness and support.
