Obituary of A. Florence Fawcett

Family and friends were saddened to hear of the unexpected death of A. Florence (Burhoe) Fawcett of Saint John, wife of the late Lee R. Fawcett, occurred on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at her residence. Florence was born in Mount Hope, PEI, the youngest daughter of the late William and Katherine (Livingstone) Burhoe, and was the last surviving member of a family of five. She lived most of her life in Saint John, where she met and married her husband of 54 years, Lee. She and Lee enjoyed many years travelling with their trailer, and spent many winters in Florida. Florence was a member of Edith Avenue Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Society. She enjoyed bowling and game time with her church friends, and also social time with her friends at Regency Towers. Florence loved travelling and bus tours with her friends, but best of all, her trips home to PEI. Florence’s greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Florence leaves to mourn two daughters, Diane Peters (Richard) of Rothesay and Lori Baker (Lance) of Fredericton; grandchildren Andrew Peters (Jennifer), and Aaron Moran; great grandchildren Madeline, Anderson, and Bridget; two sisters-in-law, Leota Sullivan and Dorothy Burhoe; a brother-in-law, Chester Banks; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, Florence was predeceased by two brothers, John Burhoe and Albert Burhoe; and two sisters, Margaret Fawcett and Willena Banks. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
