Obituary of Iris Lenihan

Iris Lenihan of Saint John, wife of Greg Lenihan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Saint John on February 13, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Laura (Vautour) Donovan. Iris worked for Century 21 for eight years before moving on to work at the Saint John Regional Hospital as a ward clerk for 4CN and also sold Partylite Candles, where she was know as "the candlelady". She represented the province of New Brunswick in her younger years as a speed skater. Iris enjoyed swimming, bingo, animals, reading and traveling. She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Greg; three children, Jay, Jodi and Jason McMurray; eleven siblings, Stephen, Tim, Sean, Shane, Darren, Tony, Paul, Daryl, Tina, Cathy and Roberta; sister-in-laws, Barbara, Suzanne, Judy and Brenda; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Stephen and Patsy and their children, Nathan and Brianne and Jeremy and Kim and their children, Megan and Anika. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the SPCA, IWK or Bethany’s Hope Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
