Obituary of Ralph Vernon Shillington

The family of the late Ralph Shillington will be holding a Celebration of Life in memory of Ralph at the Jervis Bay Legion, 1016 Bayside Drive on Friday, October 18, 2013, at 7:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and share memories. October 25, 1946 – September 2, 2013 Ralph Shillington passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Allison and Lila (Moore) Shillington. Ralph retired from truck driving but over the years had been employed as a plumber and was also known as a "jack of all trades". He was the kind of guy that could do just about anything and would do anything for anyone. He will be greatly missed by all of his wonderful friends and family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Diane (Fairbrother); daughters, Tina Torkamanloo (Reza) and Laurie MacDonald (Andrew); son, Derek (Valerie Reardon); grandchildren, Hana, Heidi, Nicholas, Jessica, Sarah, Emily, Christopher, Steven and Patrick; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Hersey (Don), Joan Hickie (John), Ann Perry (Donnie) and Gale Numme; several nieces and nephews; as well as his cat, Molly. He was predeceased by his brother, Allison; uncles, Vernon, Alan, Gordon Jr. and his dog, Mickey. The Shillington family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who were involved in Ralph’s care over the past three months. As per Ralph’s request, no visitation or service will be held. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances made to the Canadian Liver Foundation, SPCA or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
