Obituary of Terry Richard John Keleher

The unexpected death of Terry Keleher, husband of Irene (Keegan) Keleher occurred at home on Friday, March 7, 2014. He was born on November 23, 1943 in Saint John to the late Richard Keleher and Marie (Belyea) (Keleher) MacKinnon. Terry graduated from St. Thomas University with his BED and the University of Alberta with his Masters of Education. He taught school for many years at Champlain Heights and M. GeraldTeed Schools. In his retirement he enjoyed many years of tour guiding with Aquila Tours, as well as acting as town crier. Terry was the president of the Saint John Collectors Club and past-president of the Saint John Branch of the NB Genealogical Society. He was co-chair of Celebrations 1604-2004. Terry was involved with schoolboy hockey for many years and he co-authored two books on the history of Saint John postcards. He was also in the Reserve Navy for 10 years. Besides Irene his wife of almost 49 years, Terry is survived by his children: Richard Keleher (Ryoko) of Vancouver, BC; Colleen Gazeley (Leonard) of Hammond Plains, NS; Sean Keleher (Satomi) of Vancouver, BC and Mark Andrew Keleher (Sonia) of Ottawa, ON; sister, Nancy Bishop (Daryl) of Quispamsis; brother, Robert MacKinnon (Heather) of Lacombe, AB; grandchildren: Erika and Louis Keleher and Christopher, Keith, Susan, Keegan and Patricia Gazeley and Julia Keleher and a number of cousins and friends. Terry was predeceased by his parents and step-father, Harold MacKinnon. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 pm.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 12:10 pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers remembrances to Romero House or Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
