Obituary of Liselotte Hildegard Marie Driscoll

Driscoll (nee Gleichmann), Liselotte Hildegard Marie- November 20, 1927 – September 30, 2014. The death of Liselotte Driscoll of Saint John occurred on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Born in Germany in Bündheim, now known as Bad Harzburg, in the district/county of Wolfenbüttel, daughter of the late Marie Anna Elisabeth Schmǔkal (Gleichmann) nee Büschlepp. Liselotte was a book-keeper/accounting/payroll clerk by profession before coming to Canada. She met her husband-to-be in Germany, a Canadian in the Armed Forces and came to Canada on board the home lines S/S "Atlantic" arriving December 11, 1953 through Pier 21 in Halifax as a landed-immigrant. Upon coming to Canada, she lived the first 3 years in Newcastle. Thereafter from 1957 on, she has made Saint John her home. In the early years she worked at MRA’s and Calp’s department stores in their accounting/payroll offices. Thereafter she secured employment at the local hospital- first the Old General Hospital on Waterloo Street where she worked for 20 years as a nurses-aid working at doing patient care, then later at the Saint John Regional Hospital in Millidgeville for the next 10 years as a supervisor in the Environmental Services Department until her retirement in 1992. She is survived by 2 daughters- Karin Sophie Brodeur of Kingston, formerly of Cornwall, Ontario, and Kitty Nora Büschlepp of Saint John. She is also survived by 2 grand-daughters- Cynthia Bennett of Ontario and Vanessa Parker of Saint John, at home. In addition, she is survived by a great-granddaughter, Shyanne Anderson of Ontario. In addition to her mother, she was predeceased by 3 brothers- Dieter Peter in 1997 Kurt Karl-Heinz in 1978 and an infant brother Harri Klaus Werner in 1942. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). The funeral will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Father John Tracey officiating. A private family interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. At Liselotte’s request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, for those who so wish, remembrances may be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax, NS in her grand-daughter’s name (Vanessa Dawn Parker) or remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. A small reception will be held following the funeral service.
