Obituary of F. David Hodgson

F. David Hodgson, husband of the late Muriel (Dickson) Hodgson, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2014 at Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Born in Mount Middleton, NB on October 21, 1922 he was a son of the late John and Rosanne (Smith) Hodgson. David in his younger years was very active, biking, running marathons, and swimming. He joined the Carlton York Regiment, on April 13, 1942 serving mainly in Italy and Sicily during World War II. In his later years he worked as a pipe fitter and a member of the Local # 213. He loved to sing and play the guitar as well as doing cross word puzzles. He lived for over 25 years in Sarnia and was a member of the Innwood Gun Club there. In his retirement years he traveled a lot through Canada and U.S.A. Surviving are his children, Thelma Burke (Terry) Saint John; Dianne Edison, Saint John; Ronnie (Sherry), Anagance and Stephen, Saint John; sister, Grace Lee, South Bay; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 7 great- great grandchildren’ several nieces and nephews. Bedsides his parents and his wife he was predeceased by daughter, Betty; son Bobby; sisters, Olive and Margaret; brothers, Jack, Wilfred, Clifford, Philip, Walter and Joe; grandson, David; great grandson, Daniel. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, November 27, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM and Friday November 28, from 12 until the time of the service. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Friday, November 28, 2014, at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
