Obituary of F. Harrison Howe

The death of Frederick Harrison Howe, formerly of Pitt Street, Saint John, NB, husband of the late Kathleen “Kitty” (Doherty) Howe, occurred on Friday, October 29, 2004 at the Loch Lomond Villa Inc. Born September 19, 1908 in Newcastle, NB, he was a son of the late Frederick and Annie (Touchie) Howe. Harrison was employed with Famous Players Corp. as a theatre manager for 29 years and had managed The Capitol and Paramount Theatres. He was a Past President of the Kinsman Club, Charter member of the K 40 and a member of the committee to set up Saint John and Kings County Canadian Cancer Society. For several years he served as public relations chairman of the Saint John and Kings County Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society and was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Broad Street, Saint John. He is survived by one son, Brian (Barbara) of Fort McMurray, Alberta; five daughters, Sandra (Clair) Cameron, Joanne (Wayne) Leaman, Lynda Howe, Jane (George) Adams and Patricia Howe (David Boyer) all of Saint John; one foster daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Howe of Victoria, BC; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, William, James and Wilbur and six sisters, Rachel, Bessie, Awillah, Annie, Irene and Doris and half-sister, Thelma. Harrison was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. Visiting will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Following cremation interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Loch Lomond Villa Foundation Inc.
