Obituary of J. Raymond Kiervin

Due To Weather Conditions the Mass of Christian Burial has been changed Raymond "Papa" Kiervin of Saint John, NB, husband of the late M. Patricia (Darrah) Kiervin, died in Saint John on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Saint John, NB on April 13, 1925, he was a son of the late William J. and Catherine Rose (Phelan) Kiervin. He retired from the City of Saint John, NB in December 1988 after forty-one years of service with the City. He was a General Foreman of the Works Department at the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Name Society for many years, the City Retiree Association, Carleton York Regimental Association, and the #2 Royal Canadian Legion Association. Raymond is survived by his 3 sons: James (Sherry) of Quispamsis, Peter (Cathy) of Minto; Kevin (Janet) of Coles Island; 3 daughters: Helen Marie Walsh (the late Joseph) of Truro, Patricia Burnett (the late Robert) of Nauwigewauk, and Maureen Kiervin (Clarence Girouard) of Canal; 13 grandchildren: Mark (Bonnie), Jason (Jennifer), Jenn, Melissa, Nicholas, Thomas, Shelly Roberts (Marc), Scott Walsh, Jay Walsh (Angela), Lindsay Walsh (Melissa), Kimberley Scott, Matthew Frost, and Emily Frost; and 8 great-grandchildren: Julia, Zoe, Bella, Hannah, Emma, Alice, Abby, and Jordan; sister, Doreen McCarthy (the late Cam); sister-in-law, Betty; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend Jake. Besides his wife and sons-in-law, Raymond was predeceased by his sister, Madeline Jackson; and brothers, Gerald and Edward. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm and Friday, January 30, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Legion Tribute Service will be held on Friday at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 12:10 pm from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com.
