Obituary of M. Chamberlain

The death of Mary Elise Chamberlain occurred on Saturday, March 28, 2015 after a long and fruitful life. Elise was born on June 26, 1920 in Quispamsis, the daughter of the late David and Estalla (Marr) Haworth. She was the wife of the late Donald M. Chamberlain. Elise and Don were blessed with 72 years of life together having lost Don last March 2. Although Elise was most happy as wife, mother and nana to her family, she did work for a time as a school secretary at Grandview Avenue School and as a ward secretary at the Regional Hospital. Elise, along with Don were founding members of St. James Anglican Church on Loch Lomond Road and along with prayer; as she was a woman of staunch faith she enjoyed all the activities that her church could offer her. In later life, she loved to talk about her Quispamsis neighbours and her life as a young girl on her father’s dairy farm. Elise is survived by two daughters, Sharon Brown (Dale) and Elaine Buckley (John); one sister, Eloise Harding (Vern); along with four grandsons, Jason, Chris, Matt and Mike Inness; as well as several nieces and nephews. Elise was predeceased by her older sister, Frances Herrington (Elmer). Finally, our family would be remiss in not wishing a heartfelt thank you to the Villa staff on Birch Lane whose care was above reproach and a special thank you to a good friend Bonnie Marino who did so much for Elise during her Villa years. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, April 1 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. James Anglican Church Lakewood, 2000 Loch Lomond Road, Saint John on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 11:00 AM. For those who wish, remembrances made to St. James Anglican Church Lakewood or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
