Obituary of Allison Cassidy
Cassidy, Allison Shaw Passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing. Born on July 25, 1917 in Maces Bay he was the son of the late Michael and Gertrude (Shaw) Cassidy. Allison enlisted in the Air Force in 1939 and was stationed in 1941 in Summerside, PEI; 1944 in Dartmouth, NS; 1945, in North Sydney, NS; 1947, in Fort Nelson, B.C.; 1949, in Toronto, Ontario; 1951, in Chatham, NB; 1952, in Cape Rae, Newfoundland; 1953, in Primrose, Alberta and then was shipped to Baden Baden, Germany. He was discharged in 1959 with Corporal Stripes and with medals for good conduct & voluntary service. Later he worked at Lawson Motors and retired from Saint John Shipbuilding. He is survived by his sons, Ronald A. (Shirley), of Ottawa, Ontario, Randall J. (Paula), of Edmonton, Alberta and Richard R. (Tammy), of Rothesay, NB; daughter, Ruth A. Connolly, of St. Stephen, NB; sisters, Ferne Andow, of Saint John, NB and Pauline Redstone, of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren, Lori Connolly (Dick), Cindy Dunn (Tim), Robert Campbell and Daniel Campbell (Mari Thess), Kim Alsace (Steven), Suzie Cassidy and Jennifer Eston (Sean), Tiffany Serranto (Pedro) and Matthew Cassidy, Erin Cassidy and Rory Cassidy; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his 1st wife, Viola Lillian May (Sleigh) Cassidy and 2nd wife, Joan (McPhee) Cassidy; brothers, Dan and Merrill and sisters, Grace and Josephine. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Legion Service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from Castle Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Maces Bay Cemetery at a later date. There will be a reception at the Fallsview Family Reception Center following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
