Obituary of M. Sylvia Palmer

M. Sylvia Palmer passed away in Saint John on Monday, June 9th, 2014. A daughter of the late William and Stella (Delaney) Reid, she was born in Fairville, N.B., on May 30th, 1942. Sylvia is survived by her son William (Wendy) Palmer and their children Ryan and Scott Palmer of Norton, NB, her daughter Colleen Gransden-Gowman and her child Meghan Gransden of Windsor, Ontario, three brothers; Kevin (Linda) Reid, of Grand Bay - Westfield, Harold (Yvette) Reid, of Grand Bay-Westfield, and William (Marg) Reid, of London, Ontario, one sister-in-law, Elaine Reid, of Oak Pt., as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Doug “Sonny” Reid, Allen Reid, and sisters, Vicky Sullivan, Doreen O’Donnell and 2 infant children. Sylvia enjoyed cooking, especially lemon pie, cherry balls and fudge squares. She was an avid seamstress and loved to knit. Family was very important to Sylvia and she enjoyed spending time with them. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John, 506-634 1701. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11th, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 -9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12th, 2014 at Castle “Fallsview” Chapel at 1:00 pm, Fr. Gerry White celebrant. A reception will follow the service at Castle “Fallsview” Reception Center. Interment will take place at St. Augustine’s Cemetery. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
