Obituary of Elizabeth "Liz" Basque

Mrs. M. R. Elizabeth “Liz” Basque passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital with her family by her side on Saturday, May 17, 2014. A daughter of the late Edward and Luce (Rouselle) Morrison she was born in Alnwick Point, Northumberland Co. on January 1, 1926. Liz was a long-time member of the St. Rose Parish and belonged to the St. Rose of Lima CWL. She was also a member of the Queen of Peace Prayer group. Liz loved life and her family and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by three sons, Larry Morrison (Jacqueline) of Saint John, Paul Basque (Carol Anne) of Saint John and Peter Basque of St. Stephen; one daughter Diane Basque of Saint John;one sister Mabel Morrison, of Saint John, her brother Handley Morrison of Miramichi; also survived by her three grandchildren, Derek Morrison, Michael Morrison, Adam Basque and four great-grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Emilien Joseph Basque; one son Joseph Basque; two brothers Albert and Edward Morrison; three sisters Viola Graham, Annie Morrison, and Irene Neilson. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Rose of Lima Church on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 12 noon with Father Gerry White officiating. Interment will be held following the service at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations made to the Crohn’s and Colitis, St. Rose Building Fund, Romeo House or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
