Obituary of Ronald Richard
Richard, Ronald Robert, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at his residence in Long Point, N.B.. Born on July 20, 1949. He was the son of the late Ralph and Mabel (Melanson) Richard. To Know Ron was to know him for his many 'passions' in life. Passion defined as 'having an intense desire or enthusiasm for something'. Some would also say he was known for being a perfectionist. Perfectionist defined as 'a refusal to accept any standard short of perfection'. Ron was a Passionate Perfectionist! His many passions included his work, hobbies, friends and his family. He was a true entrepreneur. Some might remember Ron as a young man starting his first delivery business from the bedroom in his childhood home on City Line, where a business phone was installed next to his bed and a panel van parked in the driveway at the ready for his next call. From that start in business he continued to perfect his entrepreneurial drive and thirst to improve. This early desire took him to a new field of business where, as time moved on, he learned his trade in the Isles of Britain and Oil fields of Saudi Arabia. His new learnings brought him home in 1982 where he gained employment with Eastern Technical Services (ETS). ETS offered non destructive testing and inspection services to large industrial plants and complexes. In 1985 the opportunity presented itself where Ron and his partners took over ETS, and in 1989 they won the prestigious Saint John Board of Trade Business Owner of the Year Award. Over time Ron assumed the role of Business Owner & General Manager and subsequently, ETS changed their name to Technico from where Ron retired in 2005. Ron enjoyed many hobbies, including travel, Blues music, cooking, antique cars, and his Harley Davidson motorcycles. In particular, his enjoyment of good food, and passion for cooking have been passed on to his sons. Ron also had an immense desire to bring fun, and share a laugh or two with his friends and family. For over 26 years, Ron organized and hosted many get-togethers at their cottage in Lower Kars where, many memorable moments will forever be remembered. For some, we will remember him best for his love of laugher, which in some cases was generated through the use of Karaoke! Without question, his deepest passion and never ending love was for the Love of his life Connie, and his boys, Rod and Brad. For all of us, To Know Ron was to Love him! He is survived by his loving wife, Constance (Connie), of 34 years; sons, Rodman and Bradley of Saint John; sisters, Jeanette (David) Schedler, of Hatfield Pt., N.B., Paulette (Jerry) Power, of Saint John, Yolande (Allen) Fraser, of Saint John. Arrangements are entrusted to Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Monday, September 24, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 12:00p.m from Our Lady of the Assumption Church. There will be a reception held at the Fallsview Reception Center following the service. Following Cremation, interment will take place at a later date in the Riverbank Cemetery. Donations in Ronald’s memory may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be placed at www.castlefh.com
