Obituary of Isabella Coulman

The death of Isabella (Beth) Coulman occurred on December 29, 2013 at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton, NB. Born February 16, 1922 in Saint Catherines, ON, she was the daughter of Albert and Isabella (Cunnison) Hulme Beth is survived by her loving husband, Norman Coulman; her son, Dr. Ronald McLeod (Dr. Nancy McLeod); grandchildren, Gerri-Lynn Fedele (Ross); Krista McLeod (Craig Noble);and Michael McLeod (Louise-Jose St. Amand); brothers, Thomas, Harry and Frederick Hulme of Ontario as well as several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Harold Willard McLeod; son, Gerald Stewart McLeod; brother, Albert Hulme; and sister, Frances Gerry. Beth was a WWII veteran. She enlisted in the RCAF in 1941 eventually achieving the rank of corporal. Based at Uplands Air Base in Ottawa, she was responsible for teaching Morse code to the wireless air gunners . It was there that she met and became engaged to her first husband, Flt. Harold McLeod. They were married in 1945 and lived in Summerside, PEI until his death in 1972. In 1975, Beth moved to Thunderbay, ON where she met and eventually married Norman Coulman. They spent many happy years together until 2006 when failing health prompted them to move to Fredericton. At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. The family wishes to thank Pine Grove for their loving care of Beth during her stay with them. Private internment to follow.
