Obituary of Lois Duffus

Duffus, Lois Jean (Porter) Stepped into heaven peacefully, on Friday, October 07, 2011 at her home. Born on April 23, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Clements and Lavina (Hatt) Porter. Lois was a true westsider. She loved to socialize, enjoyed music, dancing, cooking, gardening and her trailer. She was an animal lover, especially fond of cats and birds. She was an avid Bingo player, card player, and cribbage player. She was an amazing cook and loved to share this talent with many family and friends, she was always cooking/baking for somebody and took great pride in her work. She was a caring person who would go out of her way to give to others even if it meant she went without. Lois was a beautiful, strong, brave and graceful woman. An angel on Earth and a great friend to many. She loved to be surrounded by her family and enjoyed attending all of the family events. She was adored and will be remembered forever. She will be sadly and endlessly missed by her sons, John (Theresa) Ellefsen, Eric Ellefsen (Linda Price) and Van (Fanny) Romeyn; daughter, Christine (Michael) Titus; brother, Lloyd (Jane) Porter; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husbands, Per Loftwander Ellefsen, Willam Romeyn and James Duffus; life long companion, George Long; daughter, Karen Anne; sister and best friend, Ola Seaman and brothers, Clements, Robert and Howard Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701) visitation will take place on Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. a funeral service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from St. George’s Anglican Church. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. A reception will be held at St. George’s Church Hall. Donations, in memory of Lois, may be made to the Kylie Clements Fund, SPCA-Animal Rescue League, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
