Obituary of Annie Hill
Hill, Annie Irene nee Wasson (Morris) It is with regret the family announces the passing of Annie Irene (nee Wasson) (Morris) Hill on September 19, 2011 at the Carleton-Kirk Nursing Lodge, Saint John, NB. Annie was born in Ward’s Brook, NS on November 09, 1917, the eldest daughter of the late Earl and Adella Wasson. She grew up in Advocate Harbour, NS; attended Nova Scotia Provincial Normal School, Truro, NS and began her teaching career in Fraserville, NS. She then taught in Advocate Harbour until her move to Saint John, NB with her husband and son, in 1945. She was a member of the West Side Kirk United Church where she was a leader for CGIT and Guides. She was an active member of the Pythian Sisters Lodge Martello Temple #25. She gave many years of service to the Pythians, serving as Maritime Grand Chief and Maritime Supreme Representative as well as Advisor and musician to #25 Temple. She took great pride in raising her family and was a hard-working and fine example to her sons. She was predeceased by her first husband, Verdun Earl Morris and her second, Ralph Haddon Hill; by her parents and sisters, Doris, Ethel and Ruth. She is survived by her sons, Glenn (Ruth) and Terry, of Quispamsis, NB; sisters, Lillian and Gladys; grandchildren, Michele, Collin and Christian; great grandchildren, Charla, Randy and Shaylynn and many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and nieces and her special friend, Miss Elizabeth Beatteay of Saint John, NB Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue (634-1701) visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from Carleton-Kirk United Church, with a reception afterwards in Thompson Hall. In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, donations to charities of choice will be appreciated. Interment will take place at Advocate Harbour Cemetery, Nova Scotia, at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff of Carleton-Kirk Nursing Lodge for their dedicated care provided to mother during her stay.
