Obituary of Genevieve Marie Tozer

It is with heavy hearts, the family of Genevieve M. (Ramsay) (Jardine) (Davidson) Tozer, devoted wife of Herb Tozer, announce her passing in the early hours of Sunday, November 20, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born April 9, 1941, in Chatham, NB, she was a daughter of the late Mervin and Bernetta (Doran) Ramsay. Predeceased by Sisters: Florence and Theresa, her Son, Perry and Daughter Linda Jean.

Genevieve graduated from North & South Esk Regional High School in Sunny Corner NB in 1959 then went on to Nursing from the Provincial Hospital in Saint John from 1966-1972 as a Psychiatric Attendant. Practical Nurse - Private Duty from 1973-1977. She then retired from the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home Inc. from 1977-2002 where she was considered to be one of their finest. Her full life will forever be cherished.

She volunteered for the SJ Regional Hospital for – Palliative Care/Teddy Bear Run/Festival of Trees. Saint John Canada Games 1985 – performed Security as well as the volunteering for the United Way. She performed fundraising for the Kidney Foundation/Cancer Society. She sat on the Board of Directors for the Saint John Labour Community Services.

She was a devote Roman Catholic who loved to organize Bingo and Cards at St. Pius, as well as her every service on Sunday.

Reading and gardening were truly something she enjoyed, she loved learning!!

She loved to dance and was amazing to watch, at one time she joined clogging with one of her many friends Fran. They are both dancing together now. :)

She had a talent for baking, not only did it taste amazing, but she also made it look very artsy. She would prepare a cake in April for her April Babies….The fruit cake was made with so much love, it was a sponge cake with fruit and cream, we will never have the pleasure of devouring it again, right Rob? :)

Genevieve, was compassionate about just taking care of anyone she came in contact with, she had a special quality, the gift of giving LOVE.

In addition to her beloved husband of 44 years, Herb, Genevieve is survived by her children: Katherine Jardine (Leonard), Kevin Jardine, Twila Jardine, and Robert Davidson (Alicia); grandchildren: Linda, Tammy, Crystal, Adam, Will, Jessica, Tosha, Stephen, Jason, Melanie, Sabrina, Jacob, Quinn, Brooke. Great-grandchildren: Angus, Banen, Pepper, Gaby, Henry, Leah, Easton & Lola. Sister, Mary (Bill Bate); Brothers, Junior (the late Marie) and Billy (Patsy); several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank the 5th floor CAM Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Genevieve during these past 8 months. Your kindness is appreciated and will not be forgotten.
