Obituary of Norma Elma Britten

The death of Norma Elma (Dawson) Britten occurred on Friday, December 2, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Her death occurred following a long period of illness this year.

Norma was the eldest daughter of the late William and Elma (Hamilton) Dawson of Bedford, NS. where she was raised. She attended Acadia University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Education, and taught at Hillsboro, NB High School, as well as in Tryon, PEI and New Glasgow, NS. After moving to NB in 1976 she did substitute teaching in Saint John and Quispamsis. Norma was a member of the KV Quilt Guild, Fundy Gardens Club and Kennebecasis Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Rev Edward (Ted) Britten, daughter Lisa (Brad) Chapman, son Ian; and Lisa's children Allison Mallock (Doug) and great grandson Noah of Saint John, ands Alexander (Kaitlyn) Chapman and great grandson Theo of Digby, NS; as well as her sister June (Rheal) Dorie of Port Dover, ON. and their daughters Jeannine Cooney Monique Campos and Rheanne Roberts.

Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119). A service of celebration will be held at Kennebecasis Baptist Church, Quispamsis on Wednesday, December 7, with visitation at the Church from 12 Noon to 2 PM and the service beginning at 2 PM. a reception will follow. Interment will be held at a later date. No flowers by request; donations to the charity of the donor's choice will be appreciated.
