Obituary of Bette Margaret Doreen Hatty

Hatty: Bette

It is with infinite sadness that the family of Bette Hatty announce her passing which occurred on Saturday, December 10th, 2022, at Rocmaura surrounded by her family. Born in Saint John on April 25th, 1929, Bette was the daughter of John and Eleanor Mitchell.

Bette is survived by a son Terry Hatty (Cindy), and daughters Cynthia Bishop (Thomas), Holly Berry (Malcolm), and Jill Stanley (Michael) along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Bette is predeceased by her husband Ted, infant son Theodore Michael, and daughter Elaine Maloney.

Bette loved music and the arts and was always involved in many choirs and theatre productions. Gardening and nature were always a passion for her. She was a wonderful and creative cook and amazing hostess. Bette and Ted loved to entertain and had many gatherings in their home in East Saint John and at the camp at Ragged Point.

Her family was her greatest pride and joy! Bette loved Saint John, and while working for NB Tourism, travelled the province, promoting it with enthusiasm. Travelling was also her passion; she enjoyed many great adventures. She loved the outdoors and was very active. Her outgoing nature and zest for life will be missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to personally thank the staff of Rocmaura for their amazing and loving care; your compassion and kindness will never be forgotten.

Friends and family will be received at Brenan’s Funeral Home (634-7424), 111 Paradise Row, on Thursday, December 15th, 2022, from 2 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street, on Friday at 12:10pm. Interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.
