Carol Flynn

Obituary of Carol Susan Flynn

January 24, 1955 – January 12, 2023

Carol passed away peacefully at Saint John Regional Hospital with husband Ian and loving family at her bedside.

Beloved wife of Ian Flynn, stepmother of Lindsay Flynn (Graham) of Vancouver and Kathryn Flynn (Alex) and grandmother of Harvey Legendre of Ottawa; loving sister to Marlene Wowchuk (Jerry) of Rothesay and Wally Wantola (Jill) of Seagrave, Ontario. Carol was a well-loved aunt by five nieces and nephews: Michael Wowchuk (Sarah), Julia Wowchuk (Andrew), Laura Strathearn (Matt), all of New Brunswick; Kristina Boehler (Matt) of Calgary and Gregory Wantola (Sarah) of Pickering, Ontario, as well as eleven great-nieces and great-nephews. Carol will also be sadly missed by her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, their spouses and many nieces and nephews within the Flynn family.

Carol enjoyed a long and most successful career with Scotiabank and retired as a branch manager in Toronto. She and Ian moved to New Brunswick when they retired to enjoy the famous friendliness and kindness of the Maritime people, as well as being close to many of her family members. She was a vivacious spirit who brightened the lives of those with whom she came into contact. People who met her gravitated to her right away with her upbeat, can-do personality; she was well-liked, loved and respected by all.

Carol loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises with Ian. A river cruise in France stood out for her as the best of all travel. Her other great passion was animals and their welfare. As an owner of both a dog (Kimik) and cat (Smorgie), whom she spoiled, and daily feeding of birds and squirrels, they were never neglected even when she was unwell.

With that in mind, the family would appreciate, in lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to your local Humane Society or local SPCA. Cremation has been arranged with and entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home (634-7424). Carol’s family and friends will gather in the spring in both New Brunswick and Ontario to celebrate her life. Interment will take place at Union Cemetery in Alliston, Ontario.
