Sean Fortune

Obituary of Sean Bernard Fortune

It is with great sadness the family of Sean (Cookie) Bernard Fortune announce his sudden passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

Born on June 10, 1965, Sean was the youngest of six children and grew up in the community of Milford on the west side of Saint John where he earned his nickname “Cookie”. A lover of music and all sports you could always count on seeing him on the front porch of the family homestead with his guitar strumming his favourite Iron Maiden tune, or playing catch with one of his siblings, or organizing a Dungeons & Dragons game in the back garage. A graduate of Saint John High School, Sean went on to study Biology at the University of New Brunswick (NB) and then Chemical Technology at NB Community College. He worked as an air quality specialist for the Province of NB.

In his later years Sean loved to argue politics and make people laugh with his wacky sense of humour. His greatest joy was spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his father, John Fortune and brother Jack Fortune, brother-in-law, John, and sister-in-law, Pam, Sean will be missed by those he leaves behind, his mother Mary Lily Fortune; siblings Carol Fortune, Dave Fortune, Rick (Nicole) Fortune, Cathy (Dave) Fortune; nieces and nephews Angela (Jim) Campbell, Sarah (Seth) Campbell, Jack (Ammie) Fortune, Kris (Erin) Fortune, Sandy (Seungmin) Fortune, Wayne (Elyse) Fortune, Scott Fortune, Amanda (Tommy) Fortune and Stephen (Kaylee) Fortune; and great nieces and nephews Gabe, Calvin, Ash, Zoe, Quinn, Lukas, Haydee, Emmy-Lou, Daphne and Hardy.

Funeral Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). The family will plan a service at a later date. Donations can be made to NB Social Pediatrics or the Imperial Theatre or at Donors choice.
