Obituary of Kenneth William Hayward

It is with great sadness the family of Kenneth William Hayward announce his passing on Thursday February 9, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 6, 1952, in Saint John, Ken was a son of the late Douglas Roderick Hayward and Dorothy Elizabeth (Howe) Buchenel.

Ken was an avid woodsman who worked in the woods all his life, and a master Carpenter. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren.

Ken is survived by one son, Jean Francois Doucet, of Quebec two daughters, Melissa Rose Perry, of Saint John, Tasha Lea Perry (Justin Baird), of Sussex, Stepdaughter, Ruby (Charles Theriault),thirteen grandchildren, Jean, Juliette, Robert, Devin, Jacey, Hailey, Jordan, Brody, Star, Amelia, Serena, Brittany and several great grandchildren, four brothers, Bobby (Brenda) Hayward, of Saint John, David (Karen) Hayward, of Bloomfield, Ronnie Hayward, of Ontario, Jimmy Hayward, of Ontario, five sisters, Carol (Mel) Hayward, of Ontario, Ella (Howard) Kelly, of GrandBay, Alice (Doug) Belyea, of Saint John, Ethel (Eddie) Hayward, of Nova Scotia, Dorothy Hayward, of Mill Cove, N.B., several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Ken is predeceased by his parents, Douglas and Dorothy, two sisters, Sharon and Judy, brother, Dougie, two daughters, Christine Hayward, and Serena Perry, the love of his life, Barbara Mosher, and his best friend of 21 years, Bootsie the cat.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). As per Ken’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visiting will be held on Wednesday February 15, 2023, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Castle funeral home. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday February 15, 2023, at 2:30 pm at Castle ‘Fallsview” Chapel. A reception will take place following the service at 217 Watson St. Saint John, N.B. In lieu of flowers donations to Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
