Obituary of Joseph Dale Goguen

Goguen: Joseph “Dale”

Joseph “Dale” Goguen passed away peacefully at home, right where he wanted to be, on the morning of February, 21st, 2023, with his wife, sons, and the best mother-in-law by his side. Born in Minto, New Brunswick, on October 6th, 1963, he was the youngest of eight siblings and son of the late, Leonard and Eugenie Goguen (nee Lavoie).

Dale leaves behind his beloved and loving wife of nearly 36 years Lana (nee Bailey) as well as his sons Alex and Mitchell Goguen, all of Quispamsis.

He is survived by his brothers Maurice (Wanda) Goguen and Raymond (Mary Ann) Goguen, both of Minto, and his sisters Annette O’Quinn of Vaughan, Ontario, Linda (Matthew) Bostick of Minto, and Jane Ann Latham of Mississauga, Ontario. Dale will be remembered by his several nieces. nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Trudy McGinley, his brother Terry Goguen, his nephews Scott O’Quinn and Jeffrey Bostick, and his great nephew Jeremy Bostick.

Dale worked for the Peel District School Board in Ontario for 33 years, initially as a custodian, then maintenance mechanic, before assuming an office role and contributing to projects as many educational facilities. Embracing early retirement in 2019, he found great satisfaction in his hobbies, including tending to his Kubota tractor, maintaining an immaculate garage, and preserving a well-manicured lawn. Dale loved Maggie the pug and Sophie the cat (they are both wondering where you are), he also loved his Corvette and Dodge pickup.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Reiman and his team of the Saint John Regional Hospital - Oncology Department, Dr. MacKin, Dr. Gaudet, and our family physician Dr R. Knight for the exceptional care shown to Dale. Our thanks to the entire Extramural team for treating Dale with such with kindness and compassion. There are truly no words to express our appreciation.

Dale will be deeply missed by his extend family, in-laws, and many close friends. 

A Funeral Service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home (506-634-7424), 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023, at 12pm (A.S.T.). For those unable to attend in person, the Service will be livestreamed via the Funeral Home Website.
