Obituary of Blair Burton Robinson
Blair Burton Robinson of North Head Grand Manan passed away on March 8, 2023. Blair was the son of Joseph Burton Robinson & Julia (Dakin) Robinson. He was born on January 3, 1933, in Grand Harbour. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his lifelong friend and mother of his children Joanne (Guptill) Robinson.
Blair is survived by his daughter Jennifer Robinson (Margie) Norton and his son Grant Robinson, his grandson Stephen Robinson, granddaughter Julia Jones (Harrison). Great-grandchildren Asia, Otis, Mollie and Alexander. To his greatly loved grandchildren, he was known as Zipadee. Blair is also survived by his good friend Nancy Jaquard.
Blair was a smoked herring business owner, following in the footsteps of his grandfather Grant Dakin. He loved the process of smoking herring to be exported far and wide including to Barbados. He made many friends in all of the people who worked with him, all those who worked to string, smoke, and bone the herring, meant a lot to him. After retiring from the herring business, he operated a lobster pound for a few years, later he worked at picking wrinkles and dulse with his good friend Cleave Parker.
Blair loved books, learning all he could about politics, especially American politics. With an open mind, he delved into any subject both current and past. He loved to talk with his children, grandchildren, and their friends about any topic, always encouraging them in their dreams.
The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Hare, Grand Manan Hospital staff, ambulance staff, and the LPN’s on 3CS at the SJRH. Special thanks to his friends at Rotary Isle Estates.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). The funeral service will be held at the North Head Church of the Ascension on Saturday, April 8th, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Jim Creighton officiating. Interment will be held directly following the service. Donations may be made to Charlotte County Cancer Society or to the North Head Church of the Ascension.
