Obituary of Donald Lloyd Barton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Lloyd Barton, husband of the late Clare Barton (Goedde),  on Sunday March 12, 2023 at the Loch Lomond Village. Born in Saint John, NB on January 5, 1931, he was a son of the  the late Wilbur and Alice (Cross) Barton.

Don grew up in the Norh End of Saint John and lived North until he went to live at the Loch Lomond Village.  Don was a longterm worker for Irving Pulp and Paper working there until his retirement.  He was active and loved to travel, especially for golf.  Don enjoyed sports, his favorite teams were the Boston Redsocks and the Boston Bruins. In his younger years Don was involved in skydiving, and belonged to one of the first skydiving teams.  He enjoyed playing darts, golf and loved to play cards. Don always had a woodworking project on the go.  He was kind and caring and was always known as a gentleman to everyone who knew him.

Don is survived by his special friend, Donna Keirstead and her family; Donna’s brother, Doug (Debbie); sister-in-law, Debbie; chosen grandchildren: Cody and Jayden along with his uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews and other members of his extended family.

In addition to his parents and wife, Don was predeceased by his son, Michael Barton; sister, Audrey and Donna’s brother, Norman.

Donna and her brother Doug would like to thank the staff of Dogwood House for taking such good care of Don.  They were not workers, they were “his girls”.
