Donald Domenie

Obituary of Donald Rex Domenie

It is with great sadness that the family of Don Domenie announces his unexpected passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on May 23, 2023. Born in Halifax, NS, on July 2, 1950, he was the son of the late Randall and Susanna (Barter) Domenie.

During his working years Don was a proud member of the RCMP for 36 years working in Special Investigation and ending his career as a Staff Sergeant. His career in the RCMP allowed him to see many parts of Canada, living in Newfoundland, Ottawa, Regina, and Fredericton. In his downtime Don would often be found watching Blue Jays Baseball or Football Games. He was so proud when he taught his grandchild Gus how to raise his hands and yell “Touchdown!” during every facetime call.  Don enjoyed the simple things in life, such as going for drives with the love of his life, Jennifer and watching his grandchildren participate in their activities. In his younger years he loved camping with his family and golfing with Nathan and Ivan.  He cherished his time with his grandchildren and loved teasing them with his trademark sense of humour. Don's happiest moments were when all his family were together, although he will never let them forget the $650 brunch he treated them to in Florida. Those who knew Don will be left with fond memories of his witty sense of humour, quiet presence, amazing coffee making skills and his love of anything sweet.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jennifer (Wheeler); children, Nathan (Stacy) of Calgary and Janelle (Ivan) Jardine of Quispamsis; beloved grandchildren Stella and Henry Jardine, Gus and Austin Domenie; siblings: Calvin (Peggy) of St. John’s, NFLD; nieces and nephews: Terry (Andrea), Susan (Bruce), Jamie (Peggy) and Scott; as well as many extended family. Don considered himself lucky to have also inherited siblings from the Wheeler clan, Judy,  Sylvia, Grace, Mary, Bill. Don and Jenny adopted a dog from Texas a year ago and he was so proud of his sweet Sammy and his cat, Ellie May. He cherished his mornings at the dog park. Don was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Thomas and his niece, Heather.

Arrangements are under the care of Kennebcasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd. Quispamsis (506-849-2119). In keeping with Don’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. For those who wish donations may be given to Heart and Stroke NB or Canadian Diabetes Association.
