Obituary of George Donald Hannah

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of George Donald Hannah of Saint John, NB.  He passed away suddenly at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his loving wife by his side.  He was born June 18, 1968, in Moncton, NB.  He was the son of the late George Donald Sr. (Sonny) and Hellen Hannah (Beattie).

George was a graduate of Saint John High School and went on to study at the Saint John Community College in Information Technology.  He was a dedicated employee of JDI IT department for 25 years.  He met the love of his life of 26 years, Cindy in October of 1997 from Saint John, NB.  They married at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Saint John on September 3, 1999.

George was a loving husband and wonderful dad.  His two children, Emma-Lynn Hannah and Little George Hannah were the pride and joy of his life.  He treasured time spent with both of his children going on many adventures such as biking, hiking, geocaching, and many family camping vacations to PEI.  He prioritized his family and had many close friends and colleagues.  George enjoyed nature, camping, hiking, music, and most of all time spent with his loving family and close friends. He always had a sharp sense of humour, and was usually teasing, and causing mischief to the people he loved the most.  He was fondly called Uncle George and spent many outings making special memories with all his nieces and nephews.

George is survived by his best friend and loving wife Cindy (Banks) Hannah; children Emma-Lynn Hannah and Little George Hannah; mother Helen (Beattie) Hannah; his sister Joan (Mike) Albert; aunt Barb Ellis; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; canine companion Ollie and feline friends Lola and Lennon.  He was pre-deceased by his father George Hannah and his sister Barb (Hannah) Vautour.

His family is grateful for the care from the Saint John Regional Hospital Cardiac Care Team who provided him with incredible compassion and comfort in his final moments.

A celebration of his life with be held on Sunday, May 28, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424.

To honour George’s wishes and in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Redhead Strays, the Westside Food Bank, Romero House or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

He will forever be loved and missed.
