Obituary of Kevin Michael McCoy
It is with broken hearts the family of Kevin Michael McCoy announce his passing on June 23rd, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Born on August 31st, 1957, he was the son of the late Gerald and Ida McCoy.
Kevin is survived by his beloved wife Myrna, his children: Michael (Crystal), Mark (Carrie), William, Hailey (Madisyn); stepchildren: Samantha Campbell (William Gallan), Kirsten Campbell and Katherine Campbell; his grandchildren: Alexander McCoy, Hudson McCoy, Jonathan Campbell, Abby Campbell, Joshua Crowe, Benjamin Crowe, Tyler Chappel and Charley Malley; his brothers: Wayne, Randy, Mark and Darren McCoy; and several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.
Kevin was an outdoorsman at heart; his happiest moments were spent hunting, fishing and camping with Myrna and his faithful canine companions in the past; and presently Kenny and Carl. Many a happy summer weekend was spent at their trailer at Grand Digue, NB, and later on the Kingston Peninsula. He was also a skilled carpenter, and a very capable backyard mechanic. One of his greatest passions was cooking alongside his wife and best friend Myrna. They also loved to travel, and made trips to Cuba and to the Dominican Republic.
More than any of that he was first and foremost a family man. His pride in his children and grandchildren was boundless, and his support for them was neverending.
Kevin was a long-time employee of Armour Transportation, and retired as Terminal Manager in 2019 after a long career. Unable to sit still, subsequently he was Parts Manager for East Coast International Trucks until June, 2020.
The family would like to thank Kevin's support buddy Jeremie Doucette, as well as the Extra-Mural staff, the Doctors and Nurses of the Saint John Regional Hospital Oncology unit, and the staff of the Palliative care unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital, with special thanks to Erica for her above and beyond level of care.
Beginning at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 29th, 2023, there will be an opportunity to mingle with friends and family at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) with a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm, with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Kevin's family asks that you"come as you are", with no need for formal attire. Interment will be held at a later date.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care unit would be appreciated by the family.
