Obituary of Tom Clark
Jeremy Thomas “Tom” Clark passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 73. Born February 4, 1950, he was the chosen son of George T. Clark, QC, and Frances (Drummie) Clark. He and his wife Roberta (MacLean) Clark recently celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Tom earned his high school diploma from King’s College, Nova Scotia, and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from University of New Brunswick, Fredericton. He was employed with the Canadian Revenue Agency of Canada for 25 years retiring in 2010.
He is survived by his wife Roberta, sister Margaret Jean Ouellette of Saint John, cousin Deryk Bagg and wife Cindy of Barrie, ON, the Clark and Sancton cousins, and in-laws Archie and Judy MacLean; Susan and Brian Saunders, Dawn and Fred Webber all of Fredericton; Ralph MacLean and Fred Johnston of Saint John. He was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws Ernest and Helen MacLean and a favored cousin Robbie Bagg.
Tom enjoyed a variety of interests including exploring and implementing alternative energy sources and energy conservation, embracing technology (Apple) and stereo systems, reading mystery novels and credible websites, feeding birds and squirrels, container gardening, cuddling other people’s dogs, and attending Imperial Theatre and Symphony New Brunswick performances and RKYC buffets. He was a member of the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club, the Power Boat Squadron, the Opimian Society, and a long-running Dinner Club. Over the years, he and Roberta traveled extensively in Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe. Tom had a strong sense of ethics and understood the value of education and the need to support students. He contributed to a variety of worthy community causes through quiet philanthropy.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 3 pm – 7 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 11 am in Brenan’s chapel. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, North End Food Bank, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
