Obituary of Karen Brown
With heavy hearts, the family of Karen Elizabeth Andrews Brown announce her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
Karen fiercely loved her family. She is survived by her children Allison Ferris (Greg Sinding), Kim Wilms (Ian), Chris Ferris (Sandra Mendoza) and Kelly Gamble (Robert) as well as her step-children: Anthony Brown (Angela), James Brown (Milanka) and Adriane Nisi (Calvin); her beloved grandchildren: Brandon McGee (Mackenzie McQuinn), Meghan McGee (Will O’Connell), Alexandra Wilms (Kipling Lewis), Nicholas Wilms (Jaqueline Betel), Jackson Wilms, Heath Sinding, William Gamble, Harrison Gamble, Sarah Brown, William Brown, Evan Nisi, Laila Nisi and Adam Nisi. Karen was from a family of all girls and adored her sisters Linda Dodge, Gail Miyaji (Roger), Nancy Titus (Reid), Jane Trites (Greg Cyr), and Krista Hunter (Michael); her loving cousins, including Janis Andrews; several cherished nieces and nephews; and many friends. Karen was predeceased by her husband Bill (Brown), her parents Ernest Andrews and Jean Trites, her brother-in-law Allan Dodge, and her “sister-cousin” Lynn Donaldson.
Karen saw beauty in nature. She loved animals, blooming wildflowers, dramatic skies, and fresh water-side air. She was adventurous, well-traveled, and explored with curiosity. No matter what she was doing, she always brought a laugh, positivity, and a tune to hum. Karen loved to paint, sketch, and take photos – her creativity was often inspired by her adventures and love of the outdoors.
Karen worked many years at Saint John Shipbuilding and then Fleetway Inc. During her career she made many friends and inspired all. Karen was always looking out for others and was the person people leaned on. If you were not brave enough, she would be brave for you. Her sense of humor and grace was second to none.
Karen left us too soon and her family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital Emergency and SICU Departments as well as the Neuro-ICU at the Moncton Hospital, her family is eternally grateful for the phenomenal care and compassion that she received.
