Obituary of Paul Raymond Kierstead
Paul Raymond Kierstead, the sweetest, kindest, most caring man in the world has left us far too soon. He passed peacefully after a brief illness on September 4, 2023. Paul was the precious husband of Pam (Weston) Taylor, beloved son of the late Lloyd Wellesley Kierstead and Evelyn May (Trecartin) (Kierstead) Bradley, brother of the late Peter Kierstead and Darlene Loughery, and step-brother of Faith (Earl) Sharpe.
Born May 18, 1962 in St Stephen, NB, Paul and his family moved to Saint John where Lloyd and Evelyn raised their family.
Paul was a long-standing member of The International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 125. He earned his trade under the tutelage of his (late) step-father (the man whom he said made him a man) Kenneth Bradley. Paul and Ken worked side-by-side for many years until Ken decided to retire and Paul took over Bradley Elevator. Later selling the company, Paul worked for various elevator companies until present. Highly respected in his industry for his knowledge and ability to solve any problem, Paul mentored many men and made many friends, both co-workers and clients, throughout his career. Paul was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, often serving on various boards and offering his services in any way he could. He was a humble man who strove to feel worthy of God’s love. And so, his path to God was his life-long journey.
Paul’s favourite stress reducers were time spent at “The Pit” digging in the dirt with his excavator and screener and feeling the joy of delivering quality topsoil to friends, family and a few clients. But most of all were his puppies Dezi and Abby. They were his pride and joy. Taking them for rides, playing with them in the yard or at the beach and then cuddling with them and Pam when the day was done.
In addition to his immediate family, Paul is survived by his step-son Matthew Taylor (Catherine Bigonnesse-Taylor), his nieces Elizabeth Kierstead (Ryan Cochrane), Emily (Gregory) Webster and Kelsey Loughery (Ben Holland), step-nephews Joel (Lindsee) Trickey and Marcus Trickey, great-nieces Evie Kierstead and Olive Holland, his partner in crime Jonathan Boyle, and close friend Jeff Roy.
