Obituary of Patrick Chaisson

Patrick Alexander Chaisson of Grand Bay-Westfield, formerly of Saint John, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, September 22nd, 2023. Born in Chatham, New Brunswick on November 21st, 1944, he was the son of the late Placide and Louise Chiasson (nee McGrath).

Patrick is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Haroldine (nee Dorcas); his sons Michael Chaisson (Cindy) and Patrick J. Chaisson (Lisa) of Saint John NB ; his daughter Helen Voshell (Scott) of Fort Saskatchewan Alberta; his grandsons Matthew Chaisson and Luke Chaisson of Calgary Alberta, Andrew Chaisson (Kelsey) of Saint John NB and his granddaughters Jessica Chaisson, Claire Chaisson, Lexi Chaisson of Saint John NB, and Aliana Voshell and Danica Voshell of Fort Saskatchewan Alberta; his sister Patsy Warner (Ken), his Mother In law Helen Dorcas, his brother In-law Reggie Dorcas (Sharon), his sister in law Josephine Dorcas as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his little dog Abby.

Besides his parents Placide and Louise Chiasson, Pat was predeceased by his brother Ronald Chiasson, daughter Denise Cormier (Chaisson), infant granddaughter Brooke Chaisson, brother in-law Ronald Dorcas, father in-law Harold (Bun) Dorcas.

Pat was a proud Union Member of Local 437 - Sheet Metal Workers for many years, serving terms as president for 40 years. As well as several years working administration in the union office after years of on-the-job labour work. He was an active 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus council 9176, and parishioner of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church-helping with many facets of parish life including Parish Council, brunches, dances, picnics, greetings, and annual children’s Christmas parties. Pat enjoyed fishing trips and tournaments, playing hockey in his younger days weekly with his union brothers, woodworking projects and renovations, exploring and surfing the internet, travelling to the north shore (Miramichi, Baie Saint-Anne) and P.E.I. every summer.

Visitation will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home (506-634-7424), 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, on Friday, September 29th, 2023, from 4 to 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 45 Dollard Drive, Saint John, on Saturday, September 30th, 2023, at 11am. Interment to follow in St. Augustine’s Cemetery, Grand Bay-Westfield.
