Obituary of Ann Catherine White
Surrounded by her family, at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home, Ann Catherine White (nee Murphy) passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25th, 2023. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, on May 16th, 1927, daughter of the late James and Alice Murphy (nee Walsh). Beloved wife of the late Gordon White (1997).
Ann’s home was forever the “hub” for her family. Her passing marks the close of a generation, but Ann will be missed and always remembered by her children Lynn Colwell (Gary), Laurie White (Terri), Debbie Dobson (Mike), Gary White (Grace), Mary White (Bob Clark), Colleen Smith (Danny), Steven White (Donna), and Glen White (Michele); as well as by her twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Ann was predeceased by her brothers Thomas, John Patrick, Francis, and Leo, and her sisters Minnie and Alice.
Ann worked for A.C. Neillsson’s, Saint John, until the time of her retirement.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Church St. John and St. Stephen Home for the care and concern shown to Ann over the past year and a half. A special thank you also to Nancy Carter, a longtime caregiver and unwavering support to Ann.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Parish, 316 Somerset Street, Saint John, on Friday, September 29th, 2023, at 12 noon. Interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Saint John. Arrangements entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home (506-634-7424).
