Obituary of Millicent F. E. Flemming
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Millicent Flemming announces her peaceful passing into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, which occurred Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Shannex Tucker Hall. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick on September 12, 1920, she was a daughter of the late A. M. and Florence Esson.
Millicent grew up Campbellton, New Brunswick and stayed in contact with her Campbellton “gang” for the rest of her life. Following graduation from high school, she attended Normal School (Teachers College) for one year and then attended Ottawa Civic General Hospital Nursing Program where she graduated first in her class in 1944. Millicent returned to Fredericton after accepting a nursing position working for several years as head surgical nurse for Dr. Everett Chalmers. After meeting and marrying Hugh John Flemming Jr. she left nursing to raise her family. She eventually settled in Saint John where she happily spent the remainder of her life devoted to her faith, family, and friends.
Millicent, will be missed by her children: Barbara Cormier (Clarence), Hugh (Ted) Flemming (Nancy) and Peter Flemming (Lynn); her loving sister June Esson Weeks and her nephew, Sandy Weeks; her beloved grandchildren: Cynthia Cormier, Daniel Cormier, Jonathan Flemming (Jamie), Sarah Flemming (Luke), Heather Kelly (Craig), Jennifer Brown (Bradley), Elizabeth Flemming (Nicholas Ouellette), Catharine Simpson (Colin) and James Flemming (Kayla); great grandchildren: Hugh, Adam and Emily Flemming, Clara, William and Emily Brown, Ethan, Madeline and Caleb Simpson, Henry and Millie Flemming, Nathan and Natalie Kelly; as well as all those whose lives she touched throughout her lifetime.
