So sorry to hear of Darlene's passing, I worked with her at Canada Customs - she was great to work with and I can rememeber being invited to her home , where she introduced me to (I believe it was) Kaluha.... I didnt care for it. LOL! She alwalys had a smile and was fun to work with!

To Darlene’s beloved family. I was a childhood neighbour and friend of Darlene’s . In your photo tribute there’s a pic of Peggy Smith , Darlene and myself taken at a neighbourhood reunion. Your Mom was a kind, loving and funny friend .I was very lucky to have her as a confidante especially when both of us lost our fathers while we were young. I knew Ron in high school as well. It was always so joyful whenever I saw her that my face would always break out in a huge smile.

Dear Jeff and family;
Maynard and I were so sorry to hear of your dear mom’s passing. I had a visit with her just before leaving for Ottawa. I will miss our daily phone calls and hearing her positive reassuring voice. Her story telling and sense of humor made her endearing to all who crossed her path. These pass few years have been difficult ones for your mom and yet she did not let her circumstances overshadow her love and joy for life. As you know family meant everything to your mom and she loved to share stories about you and Ian, her beloved Ron and of course her dear grandchildren. Your mom was always so thankful and appreciative for every act of kindness shown her during her time of declining health. The last time she called she wanted to tell me how much she loved my pickled beets and that she ate the whole jar. May you and the family and all those your dear mom held close to her heart be consoled with the knowledge that she loved each of you a hundred times a hundred, a thousand times a thousand, around the world and back again.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dar as a student nurse at the SJRH, then reunited with her, after I had graduated, and cared for her at Embassy Hall. She was so special to me. I am so blessed to have met her & know her. We all are. She was truly one of a kind.
I will never hear “The Dance” by Garth Brooks without thinking about Darlene. Rest easy my sweet friend.

We met Doreen at Embassy Hall where our mother Shirley resides. Darlene was a wealth of information about folks with whom we had a common link, and was always positive and graceful. She had a lovely voice and it was a pleasure to hear her join in when there was music. Her positive personality will be missed at Embassy Hall.
