Obituary of David Wayne Guthrie
It is with broken hearts that the family of David Wayne Guthrie announce his sudden passing on December 6, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 28, 1950, in Saint John, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late William and Annie (nee Oliver) Guthrie.
Being a family man, his wife, children, and grandchildren meant the world to him. He enjoyed spending time with them and building wonderful memories. David could always light up the room with his great sense of humour and his boisterous laugh. He also had a soft spot for animals and loved his and Shirley’s “Bobesy” 5-month-old kitten,
Being a welder by trade, David worked all over the city. His passion for fixing and building things went beyond work and he would often spend his thing construction various items.
David also loved getting out of the house and going for drives in his and Bobesy’s truck. However, when he was at home David would be glued to CNN or CTV news. David was always attuned to recent world events and would be the one to update his family and friends on what was going on in the world. He wanted to discuss events and always unapologetically voiced his opinion.
David is survived by his loving wife Shirley “Bobesy” Green of Saint John, NB; children Michelle MacDonald of Saint John, NB and David (Jennifer) Green of Shannon, NB; grandchildren: Ethan and Taylor MacDonald of Saint John, NB, and Lilly and Jack Green of Shannon, NB; sister Patricia Prosser (John Delane) of Saint John, NB; brother’s-in-law: Randy (Geraldine) Green of Hampton, NB, Robert (Carol) Green of Shediac, NB, and Richard (Vicki) Green of Nanaimo, BC; as well as several nieces and nephews.
