Obituary of Joan Martha Munn
It is with profound sadness that the family of Joan Martha Munn (nee Woodcock) announce her peaceful passing on Monday, December 11, 2023, in her home with her family by her side. Born in McGivney, N.B. on September 2, 1940, to the late Robert and Annabelle Woodcock.
Joan is survived by her three children: Jennifer (Andre) Jean of Nerepis, NB, Larry (Patti) Munn of Nerepis NB, and Jane (Raymond) Pitre of Halifax, NS; five grandchildren: Derrick Munn, Courtney (Nicholas) Neill, Jonathan (Natasha) Jean, Alexis (Daniel) Pitre, and Chantel (Jordan) Pitre; five great grandchildren: Bella, Robert, Alice, Annie, and Kian; two brothers Bobby (Marilyn) Woodcock, and Billy (Ethel) Woodcock; sister Lottie Hunter; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband Berton Wilson “Willie” Munn, sister Nettie Moran, and brother Arthur Woodcock.
Joan had the opportunity to live in many locations during her life, but decided to settle in the community of Nerepis where she has lived for the last 42 years.
Joan is fondly remembered for 24 years owning and operating Munn’s Grocery store, and the annual event Munns’s Fun Days that she hosted for the Nerepis community.
The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, (506 634 1701). As per Joan’s wishes cremation has taken place with no visitation or funeral to follow. A private family burial will take place in Astle, NB at a later date.
