Lovely. Dave was entirely lovely. And so, so funny!
I'll never forget the first time I saw David Shaw. I sat in a church service with approximately 250-300 people. They, like me, were utterly enthralled and transfixed by the ease with which he spoke as scripture and testimony flowed from his lips like honey; his wording was so rich and fun, and his love for the Lord was palpable—contagious! It was evident he had something extraordinary with God. On that day, Dave's countenance radiated like a child in wide-eyed wonder, and I remember thinking, who is this? And what a gift to the body of Christ!
Dave positively impacted everyone's lives because, without fail, he was fully present in every conversation, and his way was always sincere, playful, and humble. And he somehow always left you feeling seen and held.
It ripped my heart out when I received the news of his passing. However, I immediately saw an image of him in my mind. He was standing in the presence of Jesus—fully alive, at peace, and enveloped in the Father's love, reminding me that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. What a hope we have.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to have known Dave personally. My love and prayers go out to his family and friends.

It is with a deep sense of loss we convey our love to you at this difficult time.
There was always sparkle in David's eyes along with an excitement we could always sense when the things of God were
spoken about.

His joyful personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him
Rest assured he is in the Hands of his Heavenly Father.

Although I only had the pleasure of knowing Dave for a short time at work, he touched those of us greatly. Never one to miss work or to be late, he showed a dedication to do the job correctly not always seen in today’s worker. He was always joyful and willing to learn new ways of doing things or to share his own experiences. Sadly, he is gone but will not be forgotten

Our condolences go out to the family. David will always hold a special place in our hearts. On a clear night on the lake you can hear the voices echoing of kids having fun. "Who has caught the biggest frog this time?" Most likely Dave. Parents would yell to come home..... arrangements would be made with Robin, Ron, Dave and Peter to fish the following morning at 7. Dave says that's when they likely bite in Pickerel Pond. Kids will sleep and dream of catching the "Big one". Another day.

My heart goes out to all of you with this tragic loss of your Dave. He was such a sweetheart and kind person, a gentle presence throughout our childhood, and we loved him. My mom would come home from bridge sharing tidbits of their interactions: “What a lovely boy” she always said. I am heartbroken for you and sending love at this difficult time.

Heartbroken over Dave's death and heartbroken for you, his family, who loved him so much.
Dave always went out of his way to say " Hi, How are ya?" Even when we were 10 years old and the annoying little sister and her friends would invade his basement space. That friendliness continued when we were in junior high and he was in high school in the same building. He would always say hello to us in the hallways.
His kindness and compassion for all things living was evident and his love for the outdoors was inspiring. He was such a hard worker at any job he was helping with. Dave was easily able to make all around him feel special. I enjoyed each of my visits with him at his precious White's Cove.
Having had the privilege of spending so much time with your family over the last 40 years, please know that your pain is felt deeply by all. We all grieve with you. Rest in Peace, Dave.
Love Maura

Dear John, Jean and family,
We are so sorry to hear about David’s unexpected passing. David was a very special young man. He always went out of his way to smile and converse with his parent’s friends to make us feel appreciated. Once during a visit of our family to your summer cottage at Grand Lake years ago when David was present, he took charge of our young grandson. David’s plan was to teach the lad to become a fisherman. The two of them bonded within seconds, and our grandson basked all day in the joy that David shared. Please accept our condolences for your family’s loss.
