Obituary of Ann Caddell
CADDELL, Ann
March 15, 1932 – January 16, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Ann Caddell (née Murphy) announce her peaceful passing, surrounded by family, Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Tucker Hall, Saint John. Born in Moncton, March 15, 1932, to Frederick and Thelma (Ahearn) Murphy, Ann is survived by her siblings, Danny, John, Kevin and Maureen; her children, Leslie Ingleton (Peter), Michael (Tzigane Ball), Peter (Kim McKnight); her grandchildren, Chris (Amanda), Julie (Rob), Andrew (Amanda), Sarah (Justin), Zoë, Ray (Harriet) and Marley; her great grandchildren, Nicholas, James, Ella, Grace, Ethan, Jack and Henry; and her dear friend Anna Graves. In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her beloved Jim (2004) and her siblings, Raymond, Hubert, Joan, Gregory, Patrick, Neil, Bernadette and David.
Ann married Jim Caddell in 1951. They moved to Saint John soon after. Ann was an admired and respected banker to many in her 35-year career with the Bank of Nova Scotia. She became the first female branch manager in Saint John and had a natural gift for engaging clients with ease and good humour. Ann was a fine cook and an ever-gracious host. All were welcome and those who came, ate and drank well. As active members of Riverside Country Club, Ann & Jim enjoyed great friendships on the golf course and at the bridge table. One of their annual highlights was to visit Ann’s dear sister, Joan, in South Carolina and attend The Masters in Augusta, Georgia. Ann’s grace and style were unmatched. She always looked like she just walked off a magazine cover. Cross-border shopping trips will never be the same!
Ann, you have given us so many memories to savour. Memories of so many shared meals and card games with close friends and family around tables filled with delicious home-cooked food in rooms filled with laughter. We know that you are up there looking great and enjoying a Crown Royal with Jim! You were much loved and will be dearly missed.
Special thanks to the staff of Tucker Hall for your kind and compassionate care. You treated Ann like family.
A Celebration of Life for Ann will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2024, 11am - 1pm at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John.
Donations in Ann’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
