Obituary of Connie Buckley

It is with sadness we announce the death of Alva Constance Buckley on January 23, 2024. Born December 3, 1926 to the late Alvin Currie and Annie (Lee) Currie, Connie grew up in a large family on the west side of Saint John.

She spent her summers on the Kingston Peninsula in Bayswater where she met her future husband, Wilfred. Marrying at 19 she moved to the peninsula permanently where they raised five children.

Connie was employed at Horizon Health’s Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing as a Ward Clerk for several years.

Her personal interests included reading, gardening, knitting, crocheting, wood finishing, country and gospel music as well as the monarchy. She also enjoyed being by the ocean or on the river, travelling in Canada and spending time with her beloved dog, Mollie.

She is survived by her children Gary (Janice) Buckley, Joanne (Brian) Boudreau, Dale Steeves and Andrew Buckley, her brother Alvin (Sandra) Currie, 11 grandchildren; Lorrie, Joel, Amanda, Erin, Jeffrey, Amy, Jeremy, Nicholas, Meaghan, Matthew and Christopher; 22 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred and son, Carl, sisters Audrey Sheardown, Dorothy Blatchford, Shirley MacFarland and Anna MacFarland, one grandson, Larren, one great grandson, many aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.

Visitation will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB on Thursday, February 1 st , 2024 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at Brenan’s on Friday, February 2 nd , 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Harding’s Point Cemetery. A reception will follow at James William’s Memorial Hall, Crystal Beach.

Many thanks and appreciation to the Palliative Care Unit at the Regional Hospital and Bobby’s Hospice. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
