Obituary of Beryl Shirley Kirkpatrick
It’s with tears of joy and sadness, the family of Beryl (nee -Bean) Kirkpatrick announce her passing on Monday, January 29, 2024. Beryl had lived out the past few years of her life confined to a wheelchair requiring assistance with activities of daily living and her death has set her free. Despite her struggles with independence following a stroke in 2021, Beryl maintained her kind and thankful demeanour- enamouring her with staff of the Kingsway Care Center where she resided since April of 2021.
Beryl was born September 21, 1931, and lived her formative years in Red Head. Red Head becoming the ‘heart’stead of 4 generations of Beans. Beryl married the love of her life Robert Kirkpatrick in 1952- they had two daughters - Robin (Paul Martin) and Roxanne (Larry Jobe) and eventually, 4 wonderful grandchildren- Andrew Martin (Emilie Sullivan), Matthew George Martin (Kathryn Melvin), Erin Martin (JR Bowland), and Gillian Martin (Stephen Enman). Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. In her role as Nana, she reignited her calling as baker, counsellor, teacher, and cheerleader- attending countless sporting activities, concerts, and graduations. Her health, most recently, prevented her from attending 3 weddings in the last 4 years and from being able to acknowledge the birth of her first great grandchild Sonny Douglas Enman in November 2023, but Nan was always present in spirit at these momentous events.
The family wish to acknowledge the incredible staff of Kingsway Care Center for the amazing care given our mother since her admission there in 2021- the dedication shown by each staff member in every interaction with our mom demonstrated a commitment to first class elder care. We also wish to acknowledge and thank Lois Saunders - dedicated niece- for her unwavering commitment as Beryl’s companion in the geographical absence of her immediate family- we are and will continue to be forever grateful.
