Celebration of Life
Obituary of Ron Haycox
It is with deep sadness that the family of F. Ronald Haycox, loving husband to Gay (Franklin) Haycox, announces his passing on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Ron was born on October 13, 1934, to the late Fred and Elsie (Howell) Haycox in Saint John, NB.
His life was forged in the heart of the city where he made lifelong friendships that continued through his education at Saint John High School and beyond. Ron respected people and in turn earned the respect of others. This trust and respect took him through a career in construction and the automotive service industry as a partner in Northern Industies and an executive with Autotec, until his final retirement.
Ron and Gay were married in the early 90's and enjoyed a loving partnership for almost 30 years. Rom treasured his family and was happiest when they were in his orbit. He was a loving and steadfast father and grandfather with a quiet way of doling out hard-won advice. Ron was a craftsman. He could build just about anything and with the help of his old friends, Harold and Ronnie, created their getaway on the Tobique River. He was a dedicated member of our local ski hill, Poley Mountain, until he finally hung up his skis a few short years ago.
Ron always lived in Saint John and the Kennebecasis Valley, but his true home was built by his own hand on the Long Reach. He took great joy in sailing with Gay up river and back "down to the cove and home on the beach."
He is survived by his loving wife, Gay; sons, Mike (Gillian) and Greg (Tracey) Haycox; step-son, Scott Allison and step-daughter, Jennifer Allison-Wilson; and cherished grandchildren. Ron was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Janice McLaughlin; and his grandaughter, Shekinah Wilson.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of the SJRH Emergency Department and 3BS, and Dr's McMackin, Fenwick and Mackin for providing excellent and compassionate care to Ron.
“We will miss your calm and quiet wisdom”
