Obituary of Cecil "Glenn" Cannon

Cecil “Glenn” Douglas Cannon passed away at Shannex – Tucker Hall on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Born in Saint John, NB, on April 13, 1938, he was a son of the late Stanley and Mabel Cannon.

Glenn leaves behind his wife, Diana; son, Derek (Paula); grandchildren, Collin and Jacob; great-granddaughter, Amellia; sister, Joanne (Larry); brothers, Robert (Sharon) Vincent; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Glenn was predeceased by his son, Allan; brother, Benn; sister, Eleanor.

Glenn graduated from Saint John Vocational School as a printer and worked for the Telegraph-Journal and the Times Globe. At 19, he dedicated his life to Jehovah God and became one of Jehovah’s witnesses. He then married Diana on December 28, 1963. 

As a married couple assigned to New Waterford, NS to help in a small congregation in the full-time ministry. Glenn and Diana then had their son, Allan, in 1966 and moved back to Saint John and returned to the newspaper. In 1970, their son, Derek was born.

Glenn served in the Carleton congregation throughout his life.

Since September 2023, Glenn has been in Shannex – Tucker Hall. As a family we would like to express our deepest thanks for the excellent care, kindness and patience shown to him by a loving group of nurses and caring staff there, not only to Glenn but to his family as well. We will never forget such a wonderful group.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). A Memorial Service will be held from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (67 Magazine Street) on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM. The service will be livestreamed via Zoom. Zoom ID: 824 4203 7448, Passcode: 151543. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a small donation in Glenn’s memory may be made to JW.org or donor’s choice.
