Jeannette and Hans were members of our extended family and among my parents closest friends. They celebrated many Christmases and special occasions with our family. In addition, Jeannette was a fixture at the weekly coffee klatches held among a close group of European friends. She was one of my mother’s closest confidants.
Jeannette occupied a special place in my heart from the time she looked after me as a child during an extended trip overseas by my parents. I still remember her instructions on how to make French fries in the Belgian way!
Hers was a life well lived. She was passionate about everything and everyone she met. She had so many stories…and she loved to share them.
In her latter years, the gift that she seemed to appreciate the most from me was fish and chips from Deluxe. She was a woman of simple tastes, an active mind and a sharp wit.
It was our privilege to know her. I regret that we will be overseas during the celebration of her life. We express our deepest sympathies to her family and hope that the memories of an extraordinary life lived to its fullest will be of some comfort.
