Obituary of Phillip Carl Gillis
It is with sadness the family of Phillip share the news of his passing, surrounded by family, at Rocmaura Nursing Home on April 25, 2024.
Phillip was born in Bocabec, Charlotte County, NB, the son of Harry Melvin Gillis and Jean Ethel Travis. He married the love of his life, Eileen, on October 15, 1960.
Phillip worked for Imperial Oil for many years. In his spare time, Phillip enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as many carpentry projects. You could find Phillip at Tim Horton’s many days of the week having tea and a donut or cookie.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Eileen; his brother, Alan; sister, Grace; son, Greg (Michelle) Gillis of Rothesay, daughter, Patti Gillis of Fredericton, daughter, Judy (Andrew) Tipling of Lepreau, daughter, Caroline (Greg) Osman of New Hampshire, son, Sean (Helen) Gillis of Lepreau; grandchildren: Brandon, Courtney (Chris), Morgan, Michael, Nicholas, Marissa (Adam), Eric (Josee), and Amy; great-grandsons: Bentley, Jackson, Carter, and James; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Phillip was predeceased by siblings: Joe, Melvin, Vera, Olive, Charlotte, and Elaine.
Phillip’s family would like to thank the staff of the Rocmaura Nursing Home for all their hard work and care they gave to our father during his stay.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). There will be a private burial ceremony at the Lepreau Cemetery for family at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, and a celebration of life gathering at the Maces Bay Hall on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 2 to 4 pm for family and friends.
