Obituary of Sharon Ann O'Brien
Sharon Ann O’Brien passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Bobby’s Hospice surrounded by family. Sharon was born on June 3, 1938 in Saint John, NB to the late Edward and Margaret (MacDavid) O’Donnell.
Sharon will be dearly missed by her son Michael O’Brien (Nancy), daughter Taryn Stevenson (Troy), grandchildren; Kayla, Abigail and Kyle, and many cousins.
In addition to her parents Sharon is predeceased by her son Paul Edward O’Brien (1979).
Sharon was given the Star of Courage in 1981 from the Governor General in Ottawa, for trying to save her son Paul and his friend that had fallen through the ice on the river.
She was a Registered Nurse for 63 years working throughout Canada and the United States. Sharon and her business partner founded Senior Watch Inc. Their company was based on training those who work with the elderly, equipping them with the proper skills for the best care. Sharon and her business partner proudly did this all on their own. They were awarded by the Saint John Business Association with a Saint John Community grant for “Passion In Your Work” and were honoured again recently in November 2023.
Sharon grew up on the Restigouche River in Campbellton. She loved fishing and fished practically every river in New Brunswick.
