Brian Killam

Obituary of Brian Killam

Brian was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on December 15th, 1946, to his parents Claire (O’Keefe) and Leonard Killam. He was a lifelong learner and even as a child, his mom and dad would find him reading the family set of encyclopedias.

He graduated from Moncton High School and began working as a butcher for Dominion Stores. He later bartended for several years until he began his career at the Canadian Postal Service, where he retired from in the late 90s.  It was here that he met the love of his life, Sherrill, whom he remained utterly devoted to for over 20 years until her death in 2001.

With Sherrill came four stepchildren, whom he loved and always thought of as his own.  His grandchildren were a huge sense of pride for him, and he always loved hearing of their latest accomplishments and adventures.  Brian loved animals, reading, music and movies.  Most of all, he loved to laugh, had a great sense of humor, a soft heart and was a kind person.   He had many health problems in his last years but persevered through it all without complaint.

He will be missed by his stepchildren: Brian Walker (German), Elizabeth Ann Walker and John Walker (Lisa); sister, Debbie Killam; grandchildren, Lucas (Savannah) and Julia (Leo); sister-in-law, Mary Killam; nieces, Lori and Julie; and several close friends.  In addition to his parents and wife, Sherrill, Brian was predeceased by his stepson, Gerald (Barry) Walker; and his brother, Daniel Killam.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). In keeping with the family’s wishes, no visitation or funeral service will take place. For those who wish, donations may be made to the SPCA or charity of the donor’s choice.
